From the sea to the page — the life of a Master Mariner who spent decades in command of ships, and recorded those voyages in two Sindhi travelogues.
Captain and writer — two lives shaped by one long journey.
Captain Abdul Lateef Lashari entered maritime life at Karachi Marine Academy in 1988. The journey that began as a cadet led to the highest Master Mariner certification in May 2000, and then to senior responsibilities as a Senior Pilot and Loading Master in the ports of Abu Dhabi — where he has served with ADNOC Logistics & Services since September 2012.
During the same years he also served as a Nautical Surveyor and Examiner with the Mercantile Marine Department, and as a trainer and mentor to young mariners. Ships by day, a diary by night — and that diary became the foundation of his two Sindhi travelogues.

“What I saw is what I wrote” — a diary of his first voyages at sea: the ports, the ships and the people a young officer met on his way to becoming a captain.
The product of more than a decade of work, his second travelogue is a deeper, longer journey. Readers have especially praised the effort behind it — and the honesty of its writing.
